Academic Academic Center

Our Volunteer Advisors are Accumulating Hours!!

Thanks to 19 volunteer advisors, the Academic Advisement Center has just completed two full weeks of pre-registration, advising, and working with a total of 264 students. A questionnaire given to students after advisement proved that our advisors are doing a wonderful job. Students statements included "awesome," "answered all my questions," "very helpful," "friendly," and "knowledgeable".

Advisement has a tremendous impact on students, and our advisors work hard to make that impact positive and lasting. According to Richard Light's Making the Most of College: "Advising is viewed as a way to connect students to the campus and help them feel that someone is looking out for them," and we agree.

Rayner Earns 100th Volunteer Hour

Jill Rayner has been volunteering in the Academic Advisement Center since the summer of 2004. During last week's advisement session, Jill reached her 100th volunteer hour. She will join the other advisors whose names have been added to the 100 hour plaque in the Center.

Dr. Donna Gessell, MAJ Richard Neikirk, and Mr. Todd Campbell will be the next advisors to achieve a milestone in advising. Their names will soon be added to the plaque for 150 volunteer hours.

Dr. Donna Gessell has been advising in the Center since 1997 and has earned a total of 143.5 volunteer hours.

Mr. Todd Campbell began advising in 2004 and has completed 117 hours.

MAJ Richard Neikirk started advising our cadets in 1997 and has earned 139.5 hours.
